Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on here, and im nervous haha. This is my tank for my new baby who ive lovingly named Vader (just arrived today). He is a galaxy koi plakat who i got from an online breeder after a lot of research. Definitely more expensive than the pet store bettas, but far more ethical imo, as much as I would've loved to rescue one. I have lots of other fish and tanks (12 in total), but this is my first betta fish. I want opinions on the tank and constructive comments are welcome, just be kind please. The tank is 10 gallons, and is going through a bit of a melting phase so dont mind the sword that looks like its dying on the left. I still have red root floaters in the mail that will go in here, but otherwise this is the tank. If you want a full plant list of what i used, let me know! I moved filter media from an established tank over to this one, and have fed with ammonia and tested daily so it is cycled. It has a sponge filter, heater set to 78, floating feed ring, botanicals, and he is and will remain the only inhabitant of this tank minus a few ramshorn that found their way in on plants I moved over. I tried to make it as close to what they'd have in the wild as possible. He was very active when I opened the box and saw him for the first time, and has been exploring his home ever since. Hes at the bottom of the tank near the right. I also like to give my fish a variety of foods so I have Sera betta granules, new life spectrum betta granules, live baby brine (i have hatchery), frozen mysis (can break whole one up into smaller pieces and give him one or two), and frozen calanus that i can rotate out for him. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to this!
