Hi guys! I currently have a 5 gal shrimp/ plant tank with 6 blue velvet neos along with a nerite snail and a mystery snail. I was thinking about adding a betta to the tank, but I know it can be a gamble with the shrimps being in the same tank. There are plenty of hiding spots for the shrimp because I have Java moss and grass, but I was just wondering what type of betta would be the best option and if male or female would be better (I’m thinking male because females tend to hunt more). I would want a dosile and slow betta, but I know there individual personalities varies.

I’ve seen bettas and shrimp work once or twice but more often than not its a blood bath for the shrimp. All the babies will be eaten very quickly and the adults may live for a while but more than likely will end up being eaten.
Should be just fine, my Betta got bored chasing my shrimp eventually
Long finned are your best bet, though I hate that I also have had many betas with shrimp and only ever had success with long finned males that can’t move too quick 🙁
I have not had luck woth betta + shrimp but i heard it depends on the temperament of the betta
I have four tanks in my house with bettas and shrimp and have no issues. I do have one short finned aggressive female I would not try it with though.
