I bought this reel off eBay supposedly new. Whenever reeling it seems to be off kilter or like something is bent. It doesn’t spin dead straight and slightly wobbles. Is this normal for them or is something wrong?

Lamson reels are good reels, especially the fully machined Velocity models. Sounds like something is bent.

  2. Contact lamson , years ago I got a speedster on eBay and the seller never told me the drag was broke , I contacted lamson and sent it back to them
20 bucks later I had my reel back with a brand new drag good reels and great people ! I own a lot of fly reels nautilus and tibor but lamson reel are some of my favorites I still have two speedster S reels
    And a few older ones

  3. We can’t tell you what’s wrong with it from a pic like that.

    Reasons a reel might wobble:

    Counterweight on spool is missing.

Backing and fly line aren’t wound on evenly (easy to do).

    Flaw in spool casting/spindle assembly.

    Bad bearing.

    No lube.

It’s been dropped and is now not round/straight/whatever.

Take it to a shop and have them look at it. If that is not possible, take it to a mechanic and have them look at it. Take off all the line and backing and see if it still wobbles. Clean it, lube it properly, see if it still wobbles. If so, contact Lamson.
