I got this 9ft medium fast rod on clearance. I bought it in the hopes of catching salmon and walleye this spring. What would be some good lures/rigs to run on it? I fish the St.Clair river which has a pretty strong current and gets fairly deep in spots. I talked to a couple guys that said they use drops shots with heavy weights. Anyone else fish with a rod like this? I'm new to it. I mostly did ultralight fishing for smallmouth bass last summer which is most of my fishing experience.
