Made this out of some 1/2" starboard. The shape was to fit a Native manta ray, I already had it drawn out, and fits my new LTE as well. You can see the two pencil marks for where the Garmin transom mount will line up. I'm honestly going to use some short self tappers because I know it's going to strong enough, but brass inserts would work too.

I think the brass inserts would be perfect. I use a wood burner tool from harbor freight to heat them up before sinking them into the plastic.
