Just picked up this perception tribe 13.5 for a great deal. I want to get into kayaking around where I live with my fiancé. I also plan on having what I need to set it up for fishing and going out myself. Any tips or suggestions?

I don’t know if you’ve got past experience, but take it out a few times before you start putting anything on it. I took my kayak out for the first time and had a good bit of light tackle with me, I looked like an absolute goofball at the boat ramp trying to get on my kayak.
Never even got to fish because I spent the entire time counter steering as I didn’t check the weather good enough beforehand. The second most important thing after having all your PPE is making sure the weather is suitable for where you’re kayaking.
in my opinion, especially as a beginner I wouldn’t fish in wind over 10 miles an hour I wouldn’t be kayaking at all in anything over 15. Oh and make sure you know what to do if you capsize and how to get back on your kayak
Lanyards, leashes, and tiedowns are your best friends when kayak fishing or be prepared to sacrifice your gear to the fish gods

Learn how to use an anchor and buy one. Cast with the wind.
As a beginner do not fish if the winds are above 10mph. As you approach 15mph it becomes unsafe to be on the water.
Also don’t put your dick in the scupper holes if there’s gar in your area.

Anchor trolley system is a must if fishing lakes that have steady wind. I also found a good net very helpful.

For hauling, I don’t know if you have one based on the photo. Get yourself a truck bed extension from Harbor Freight. They are about 50-60 bucks and it takes the stress off of your kayak what transporting. Happy fishing
