I just built a DIY Fluidized Sand Reactor and I have it processing 1.5 grams per hour of ammonia!!! This is going to be a power house for the 500 gallon system I am designing. It’s 60” tall and 6” diameter.
I just wanted to show it off. If any one want to know how to build one I will happily explain it.

Is a “fluidized sand reactor” just a fluidized bed reactor that uses sand as the catalyst? Or is there other differences
Ive owned close to a hundred aquariums varying from 2.5 gallons, to 280 gallons. At one time I owned and maintained 11 aquariums. 3 of them at that time were co2 injected.
This is above my head.
Ahh your garage looks like mine lol lots of fish tank stuff
Alright guys. This guy won. I don’t know what he won, but he won it, lol.
We can all go home now.
I’d love to read the explanation if you don’t mind writing it all out! I’m curious about your design and which way the water flows through
Good job. For anyone unfamiliar, these work really well. However, they do require maintenance, because over time bio film builds up on the sand, starts to weigh it down, and then it gets clumpy as the sand starts to stick together.
