She totally captivated me with her weird gold color and i had a spare 10 gallon shrimp tank so i took her home, had a hunch after noticing her green eyes and lo and behold she glows!!! Looked into it more and realized glo bettas are discontinued, so how did this happen?? I didn’t see anything about glo elephant ears either so how did the glo gene even get in her line?
Sorry for bad pictures, but it was late and i felt bad overriding the light’s timer to take a lot, but i’m kind of stoked she’s so cool, here’s hoping her health will hold up long term and very very much hoping she is a friend to shrimp

People still actively breed them and the want for them has spiked since they discontinued (low sales were one of many reasons they were discontinued). They slip into shipments to petco more often than people would think. That, on top of the mislabeling, allows them to sell because “oh! Look at this one! It’s got a funky look to it!” Which attracts the customer to buying it.
