I went coarse fishing for the first time today and I am still daydreaming about it.
I've done sea fishing before. I caught mackerel as a teenager but after picking it up again last year, I blanked all spring and summer chasing mackerel and bass. So I decided to try coarse fishing for a change of scenery and its more convenient since I do not have to compete with the public to use beaches and not waking up at ungodly hours to fish in peace.
Three hours in, the reel screamed. I tightened the drag, reeled in the slack and set the hook. The carp was an absolute fighter, taking line and thrashing. It felt like I'd hooked a rock. When I finally netted it, I just couldn't believe how pretty it is.
Two hours later, the rod tip started rattling, a bream, also a good fighter.
Coarse fishing has me hooked, and I'm also reinvigorated to hit the sea again and finally land my holy grail: bass, wrasse, and pollack.
