I’ve gone to 3 spots for a few hours each, 2 lakes and 1 river. Used night crawlers each time, haven’t a nibble at any. Are these hooks normal for small time fishing? I’m not a super fisherman by any means, and I don’t mine catching nothing. But if these happen to be some specific hooks then maybe I should switch. I’ve been having fun regardless

Those are jigheads, primarily used when combined with soft plastic baits. Usually the size of them deters smaller fish and even larger ones like bass. As the name states their probably suitable for things like shiners and minnows but if you’re using worms I’d suggest a much smaller circle hook. If you search up “jighead soft plastic rigging” I bet you’ll find plenty of videos showing off a good way to use those. Good luck!

  2. Long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters. more info on what you’re targeting and where in the country you’re at would help. Using jig heads like that with night crawlers isn’t my favorite way to rig worms but it can be effective. If I’m fishing worms I’ll typically use a Carolina rig or a slip bobber set up depending on whether I’m fishing the bottom or higher up in the water column respectively.

  3. Those would be good with those black tails in your other post, although I prefer paddletails. They just seem to work better for me. The Northland Mimic Minnow is one of my favorite pre-rigged paddletails if you are looking for advice on a good lure.
