My boyfriend and I have been really struggling with our first betta fish. His fins will drastically deteriorate over the course of a day or two basically once a month.
We’ve been treating mostly by staying on top of water changes/quality (ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate <5ppm) and temperature (82f), adding IAL tannins, and by using Kanaplex in a hospital tank.
Kanaplex treatments have worked in the past but he always starts getting worse again. It doesn’t seem to be helping this time.
He lives in a planted 6 gallon cube with cherry shrimp and various small snails.
