He went through a period where he was brushing up on everything and developed a small grey spot on his head and was swimming and acting strangely.

He was eating like normal throughout this, and my tank was completely within ideal parameters. but the grey spot continued to grow.

Fast forward about 4 weeks and he is now in an isolated hospital tank, I have treated him with anti fungal medication as per the advice of my local fish store, and the patch on his body is still there, loud and proud. can anybody advise me as to what this could be?

He's now acting normally, and creating the most impressive bubble nests, the hospital tank is also within parameters but the patch on him just seems angry. I don't want my baby to be suffering at all.

Thank you for posting to r/bettafish.

    Tank size – 22L
Heater and filter are both in the tank, heater is set to 23°c
    Nitrites – 0
    Nitrates – 8
    pH – 7
I have had the tank since October 2025 and the betta has been in since November.
I usually do a water change every week or every other week at around 20%, and test the water every time I do this.
In his original tank there were some cherry shrimp, a snowball pleco, some neon tetras, snails and pigmy corys, but there are no tank mates in his tank currently. He’s been in this new tank for around 2-3 weeks now
