im moving across the country and am planning on leaving a few days early and camping/fishing someplace new. I have fly rods, spinning rods, baitcasters heavy gear so nothing is off the table. theres so many options its quite overwhelming since ive never even been to these states. Trophy fish are fine and im equally as happy for a beautiful view and good eating fish. what are some places you all recommend?

Maybe try to hit up the Colorado River? I think that’s within the circle

  2. Either fly fishing in the Bitterroot Valley of MT or something on the coast in Washington.

Central Idaho. Incredible and endless rivers and alpine lakes full of trout and some rivers with wild salmon.

Wanna catch a dinosaur? Head to the Snake River (Southern Idaho) or the Columbia (Southern Washington) and fish for white sturgeon. There are still 12 footers in those waters, with anglers regularly pulling up 6-8 footers.

Table Rock Lake, Truman Reservoir, Lake of the Ozarks, Bull Sholes, Grand Lake, Eufaula, Stockton. Quite an awesome spread of Bass tournament lakes in this oval.

I’d go around Missoula and Butte. But I’m biased because I live near there. Can’t go wrong with the PNW though.

Valentine Nebraska. Has elite fly fishing water for trout and can catch trophy musky, pike, large/smallmouth, and walleye

Buffalo River, Arkansas (smallmouth bass, etc.) and Green River, Wyoming (big ol brown trout, etc.).

  9. Toss up….South Fork of the Snake in Idaho or the White in Arkansas ( twice a year habit btw ).

Basically all of the section circled within Idaho, Montana and western Wyoming is world class.

Depends on what you’re fishing for but sturgeon, walleye, steelhead and salmon on the Columbia or snake river is where I would fish.

  12. Can only speak for the southern part of your trip, but, Cheatham and Cumberland outside of Nashville has some good bass and catfishing.

  13. Lake Taneycomo – Branson MO

World class rainbow and brown trout fishery. Current State brown trout record is over 40 pounds.
