The label says Diamond tetras but when I look them up they look completely different. Any reason why? My gut feeling is they could just be Neons, but I'm not sure I'm still new to the hobby and doing research.

Unrelated but this reminds me of a time when an old guy was arguing with the store attendant in an lfs. The species name was written on the tank, but they had clearly all been bought. He was arguing that the name was on the tank but there was no fish in it so there must be a mistake with the name. He couldn’t grasp concept that they had all been bought.
Anyway these are referring to Diamond head neon tetra, not neon tetra.
