first picture is from the weekend, second is from this morning, and third is from about a week and a half ago, water has a small trace amount of nitrate and the pet store told me to use melafix which appears to be okay and doesn't seem to be harming the fish or making it lethargic as I've read it may do, the nitrate seems to cycle out but I've been making small water changes about 2 liters every other day (3gal tank with plants and gravel substrate) trying to make sure she's living her best life that's all

Im gonna get a gravel vacuumed this weekend, water has tannins from Indian almond and beta water conditioner and a bottle of some fluval starter bacteria stuff because my tanks only a little under 2 weeks old(was told betas could do fish in cycle by pet store sorry)

What was wrong with it? I dont see anything in the pictures. Also are you talking bout nitrates or nitrites? The first one is non toxic plant food and not at all a reason for melafix or any concern at all, the second one is toxic and is fixed by doing water changes until the tank is fully cycled and can handle it. What was the melafix used for?

Please DO NOT USE MELAFIX for Bettas. It contains tea tree oil and can cause harm to the fish’s labyrinth breathing organ, causing them to suffocate.

If melafix is still present in the tank, continue with water changes until it’s out.
