Been a long time lurker on this sub and I finally decided to get some gear and go fishing this weekend. Since its my first time, I had a couple of questions:

Is there any gear I am missing?

Do you have to fish in the early morning or is there a certain time fish are more active and willing to feed?

Can I use Dubia roaches or other pet store baits such as crickets or mealworms?
In all, mostly looking to catch Bluegill, Bass, Trout, and the occasional Salmon if there are any. I live in the Sf Bay Area and any advice would be great, thanks!
