What are people's thoughts on this? There is a known spot on a local creek that gets stocked and every year these trout seem to all sit in one little hole the size of SUV. I got there and there were two dudes fishing it so I walked up stream where I knew there were no fish but figured I'd practice casting and maybe they'd scare one up to me. Shortly after their 2 buddies came down and joined them. The 4 of them spent the next two hours + casting into the same small hole without moving. They were snagging each other's lines it was that tight. I gave up and left.
I've found some hot holes before including this one and after awhile I get bored and move to a different section of stream to give other people a turn. Casting into the same tiny hole for hours seems stupid but maybe that's just me. 🤷🏻♂️

In these situations I just leave, idk, I don’t have the energy to fight back at people who are doing something I wouldn’t do. It’s frustrating but sadly modern over crowded fly fishing
I’m not huge on people if I can see someone I’ll move down the stream until I can’t or hit up another section.
Old guys with thousands of dollars of gear, fishing for stocked trout. Leave them to it.
I wouldn’t sit there that long. That isn’t what fishing is about to me. But…If they are there first, it’s their hole.
You can talk to them and try to figure out how long they intend to stay, share your plans, maybe be friendly and work something out.
I call it camping and it’s lame af
If I’m a fish in a pressured area where there is only one viable hole, and four guys are standing around staring at me, I wouldn’t bite anything.
Not my style , I would rather go find a stream and wonder around catching smaller fellas.
Yeah I’m not dealing with that. I’d rather not catch anything than be shoulder to shoulder with bozos like this.
Poor form, full stop. You fish through the section and move on – bad manners to just park. In the UK they would be politely, but firmly, asked to move on. Sometimes it’s folks that have transferred across from other branches of the sport and they don’t know the etiquette. Camping on the same spot for two hours is poor and there is no way that a crowd thrashing away like that wouldn’t spook the fish and put them down :-/
Nah, there’s certainly fish outside of this one SUV-sized hole. These bozos just don’t like walking. Time to explore! Fish that creek from tail to head and find where the trout that are smart enough to stay away from these idiots live!
People like that have no etiquette. They just want to snag fish and have no shame in it. Pathetic.
I make sure really no one is in eyesight! No need to be on top of another dude lol
I’m just guessing but NC?
First people on the hole own the hole until they don’t want the hole. Nothing wrong with camping out there if they’re enjoying themselves.
Let them fish. Just means there are spots that are empty. I know i am not the only guy on the river, but i like to feel like i am.
If I’m floating and guys are in a run, I’ll float through and hit the next one.
Never low hole someone on a run. Just wait your turn and fish from the top down. When a run is full of guys, I’ll most of the time use it as a time to check my gear, have a beer and a snack and hit it when it clears out.
I’m not into combat fishing at all.
Honestly they’re being kinda lame BUT they beat you to the hole. Just is what it is.
If I even see another person when fly fishing I haven’t walk d nearly far enough
I fish to get away from people. I will always take less fish in exchange for solitude.
There’s always holes like this. If you want to hop in with them, in my experience they’re OK with it, otherwise they’d be fishing elsewhere. Every river tends to have its own culture. If you don’t like the crowds, there are always other spots.
All the famous blue ribbon rivers guided are like this. Except it’s a boat full, then as their line drifts thru, the next boat full cast in.
