Haven’t been fishing since I was a kid with my dad and am trying to get back into it. Threw a rod together with the help of Google and some equipment recommendations from friends. How did it turn out? Any advice on how to improve it?
Not using the bobber, just there because why not.

I would clip that lure off and take the line out of your hook keeper and run it thought the bottom guide instead. That first little loop is to hold your lure
Don’t throw any hard bait you aren’t willing to lose. I know chatters aren’t life or death but $5-$8 for a basic one adds up over a weekend.
Learn a few plastic worm rigs. Texas, Carolina, things that can be fished any pond with cheap supplies is a love of mine.
Oh, no shame in throwing live bait out on a bobber while you eat, sit, take a break from lure fishing.
My boy. Photo 2, That little ring just above your handle is NOT a line guide. That is where you hang your hook so it doesn’t damage your line guides, which you did in the first photo
That rod is looking a bit light to be throwing chatterbaits. What’s the specs on it?
I think you’ve threaded the line thru your Lure Holder like it was a guide
You’re supposed to use that to hook your lure or bare hook to, not string your line thru it.
Edit: I see someone has already said this!
