So I got a new friend. First time owning one. And I must say I am really enjoying this little guy!!
He warmed up to me in no time and he's just so fascinating! Immediately went searching for this sub after bringing him home and I'm loving everyone's post and all the info being shared.
I've read that they are quite hardy but apart from that i do hope I keep my little friend alive
As long as life let's him!
I got the one on the right
His name is Berry.

So I know I’ll need a bigger tank. Working on that. I’ve had him for about 3 weeks so far and despite his space being small (considerably bigger than the pet store box he was previously inhabiting) I can see that he is quite content in here. Im looking for a budget friendly tank and a space for the tank atm. This jar is currently space efficient as he sits on my desk where I work.
I live in the Caribbean so I dont think heating is an issue.
He is very spoilt as he gets mosquito larvae treats and mosquitoes quite often, so much so that he sometimes refuses to eat his fish food

It’s good that you’re planning on improving your setup. Bettas get very bored without anything to interact with and not having places to hide stresses them out. Avoid spiky or hard decor/plants as much as possible to make sure he doesn’t tear those delicate fins. Minimum tank size for a betta is 5 gallons (idk what that is in liters) and they need a filter at the very least, since heating doesn’t seem like an issue in your neck of the woods. Just make sure the water stays at the right temp if he’s in an air conditioned building. They’re intelligent little buggers and can even be trained to jump through hoops and eat from your hand, so make sure to keep him stimulated 🙂
