Good day anglers,
After way too long I'm getting back into fishing this year. For decades it's been traditional slip bobber with a worm and lure casting.
I've only recently learned about Senko techniques, Chatterbaits, and some of the other more recent developments. Carolina rigs and Texas rigs are not new to me but these newer techniques look really fun.
I'll be doing all bank/dock fishing. Some of my local ponds have great coverage for lillipads and timber in the warmer spring months.
So today I gathered all of my stuff and started cataloging. I also cleaned and sorted out all my old tackle boxes. Threw some old shitty lures away, kept what is mostly rapala floaters, some rattle traps, and other assorted items. I know for a fact some of these I've thrown in Minnesota over 25 years ago.
That being said I wonder if there's even a place for them these days. Nebraska bass fishing isn't exactly super hot but it has its moments. I'd like options on if this old set of lures has a real place?
On the fast left are all level top water floaters, the middle set still float but they lean more on the nose or tail. And obviously my rattle traps.
On the other side is my way too large collection of new shit that will still be super fun to throw.
Not pictured is a shit load of swim baits, senkos, and other assorted plastics. On the way I have some megabass spinners.
They'll be tied to a couple new shimano dc reels along with a Dobyns and Shimano rod. Also I have a 7ft ugly stick and I think a 2000 plufger.
Thanks for your insight.

omg i feel this so much, i just got back into fishing after like 2 years and was shocked at all the new stuff! senkos are actually life changing tho, caught my biggest bass ever on one last weekend.
I don’t have much experience in bass fishing but if they are like other predatory fish then I’d say old lures still work, especially minnow and shad style lures. I think I see Shad Rap on the first pic, literally one of the best lures of all time.
Most of those lures are still in production and can be purchased new. Rapala X Raps, Countdowns, Shad Raps, Husky Jerks. Those lures are all still on the racks and the reason they are still in production decades later is because they still catch fish. Likewise, those Cordell Spots are still in production and are great lipless cranks. The couple discontinued baits you have in there, the Mann’s Baby 1- is now discontinued and they are highly coveted. Likewise, that Rapala Flat Rap is discontinued and coveted too. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with these baits. They will catch fish. Don’t believe the hype that only new and modern stuff will catch fish. New baits are designed to catch fishermen.
