Do you know anyone with kids? Turn it into a game. First one to sort their pile wins. Kids don’t require a prize if you find ones that are just competitive. Thinking about it, this will work with competitive adult friends too.

If it’s natural stones you might be able to use a magnet. Black sand tends to be magnetic I don’t know if that particular stone is though
