I have been fishing for like a week and a half straight. For hours every time. I'm enjoying the activity and the beginner struggles I go through every time with my gear. Though I feel like I'm doing something wrong. In the time I've spent fishing so far, I've gotten only a single bite and it got away. I haven't tried live bait yet but I've tried many different artificial lures. I've tried to pay more attention to my retrieval, research how fish behave and where they would possibly be located in the water, anything I could do to try to figure this out on my own. Could it possibly be that I only ever use line and artificial lures? I haven't introduced myself to rigs, bobbers, weights and all that. But with my lack of success maybe I need to pivot towards that.

Grab ya some culprit 8 1/2 ribbon tail worms, Texas rig it and run it accordingly to the water temp (cold=slow retrieval- warm=faster retrieval) you will eventually get ahold of something nice.

Don’t give up, I’ve fished my whole life and learn something new every season.

  3. Before we can help you, we need to know, where are you fishing, and what are you trying to catch, ie…. Ocean? Back yard pond? Bass bluegill

Go fishing with someone who knows what they are doing. They might be able to spot things you can’t.

  5. According to what the tackle industry would like you to believe, you are missing approximately 2 metric tons of gear. It’s fine if you eventually catch up – and you will!
