After realizing that my rod only came with a bag, I made a post on here recently asking for advice and for what I might still need.

Turns out I needed quite a few things still which I am hoping I got during my recent trip to the store.

Still, I left with quite confused with a couple of questions unanswered:

  1. Besides a stringer,am I missing anything?
  2. What do all the hook and weight sizes mean? (1/2, 3/8, 1/4)
  3. Why do some hooks have 3 hooks on one? I also noticed some having fake fish or feathers attached. In terms of baiting, do you add 3 baits to that one hook or one massive on in the center of it?

Thank you all for the advice and tips on my previous post, it helped me so much and I am even more excited to go fishing now 🎣!

You have a stringer in the tackle box it’s the blue rope with the pointy thing. And you don’t bait the lures, meaning the feathered or fish looking ones. The bait is for when you want to fish with a bobber or similar sit ain’t wait style fishing. The 3/8, 1/2 and so on are weights in ounces 3/8oz 1/2oz heavier weights for deeper water again for fishing with baits sit and wait or you can look up other rigs that use weights. But just get out there and fish. Depending on what you’re fishing for and what’s biting you can look up what rigs and lures or baits to use. Go with what you have and see what happens. Slowly just fill your lure and bait collection when you get more familiar with what you want to do and what you like fishing for. But don’t invest too much if you’re still experimenting with fishing. It gets expensive fast.

if you’re just starting out I do not recommend running straight flurocarbon

For the powerbait setup I’d go with size 14 or 16 treble hook with that 4lb fluorocarbon leader. You got everything for catching some stocked trout 👍
