I have this planted tank that's been cycling for about three weeks. I planned to get a betta, but I was wondering if there are any other fish that would do well in a smaller tank? Currently it has a mystery snail and a few small shrimp.

I haven’t had any of these but they are fish I eventually want in a 10 gallon one day. Scarlet badis, Honey gourami, Sparkling gourami or Peacock Gudgeon
Dwarf gouramis or killifish would be nice
You could get a school of celestial pearl danios!
Samurai gourami, gold cloud minnows (or white cloud), ricefish (medaka), heck you could even have 3 African dwarf frogs and they’d loooove that setup! (As long as that gravel cannot fit into their mouth).
My vote is for samurai gourami. You’d need to throw a few Indian almond leaves in there to help create black water, but they’re labyrinth breathers and pretty badass 🙂
Many options for a 10g, here are some of my favs:
* Chili rasboras
* Celestial Pearl Danios
* Blue eyed red neon dwarf rainbow fish (Pseudomugil luminatus)
* Clown killifish (needs a cover)
* Tucano tetras
* Pygmy corydoras
Of those options, my favorite is Pseudomugil luminatus. They’re a rich red/orange color with an iridescent blue streak on their backs, and the males have orange tipped pectoral fins. The males will flare at each other when they spar but they don’t hurt each other. For nano fish they’re pretty confident so you don’t have to worry about them hiding all the time. You could do 6ish, with more females than males. If you’ve got thick plant cover they’ll readily spawn.
Tucano tetra are rare but a beautiful option and are pretty small. You could do 10 in a 10g no sweat. Houston Aquarium Warehouse has them.
vampire shrimp!
Get some nano sunfish! They are cool and live well in small isolated colony
