She Built Her First Aquascape 🌿 A Tiny Aquarium Ecosystem

Welcome back to Haus of Gruen 💚

In this video we’re setting up a brand new aquarium for one of the empty corners of our home.

This one is a little different though, because even though I was already happy about scaping another tank, Vildana decided that she wanted to do it herself.

So either she’s not trusting my skills anymore…
or she really found interest in this hobby.
You decide 😄

Her idea for this 45P aquarium was to create a little fairy pond — inspired by real underwater photographs of ponds and lakes, but with a soft, magical twist.

She wanted the scape to feel warm, natural and friendly, almost like a tiny fairytale world underwater.

To build that foundation, she chose ice-aged stones with beautiful warm orange tones, combined with a larger wood structure that I had glued together for her beforehand.

From there, she worked on the balance of the hardscape, trying different stone placements and creating little pathways to bring more depth into the layout.

Because we reused soil from a previous scape, it already contained gravel and lava stones, which helped us create a nice slope in the back and make the aquarium feel deeper.

For planting, I showed Vildana a selection of possible plants that could support this soft pond-like feeling, and she picked the ones she liked the most.

A big thanks to Aquasabi for kindly sending us the plants for this project 💚

Most of them are tissue culture plants, so they still look quite different in their emersed form and will change a lot once they adapt underwater and start growing in.

We also added Riccardia moss to small stones and parts of the wood to bring in even more natural detail over time.

This tank is still only at the very beginning.

A lot of the beauty of this scape will only really show in the coming months once everything has settled and grown in.

And that’s one of the things this hobby teaches so well: patience.

We hope that one day this little tank will truly look like a beautiful fairy pond.

💬 A little note from us

We really love this stage of a new tank.

Everything still feels fresh, full of possibility, and a little bit unfinished in the most beautiful way.

It takes time for an aquascape to become what you imagined when you first started building it.

And maybe that’s part of why this hobby feels so special.

Let us know what you think about Vildana’s scape — and if you’d like, we’ll keep sharing updates as this little fairy pond grows in on our channel.

Take care of your health, your loved ones, your sanity.
See you next time.

Peace.

  1. Wir brauchen mehr Frauen im Aquascaping-Hobby 👍🏻 das Becken wird sicher schön, bin gespannt, wie es sich entwickelt… und wie ihr die zwei Lotus klein haltet 😍😃

  2. As always, I really enjoyed your video; they're so harmonious and tasteful. I'm super curious how the new tank will turn out in a few months' time. ^^

  5. The roots alone are already incredible—can’t wait to see how it all matures 😍 Huge congrats, Veldana!! Keep them coming hahaha 😊
    Absolutely loving this channel!! 🎉

  6. I just discovered this channel maybe a week ago, through one of your balcony garden videos featuring your medaka pond/aquascape. That, led me through the rabbit hole of the rest of your videos and convinced me that I NEED a little pond and aquascape set up. For my birthday tomorrow, I’ve treated myself with a massive tank supply order so I can spend a few hours hopefully making something this beautiful, that I hope to add fish to in a few weeks. I love this channel; thanks so much for the inspo. Cheers 🥂🐟🐚🌱
