You can fillet fish with a pocket knife so yeah you’ll be fine.

Yes it’ll be good. There’s also better for cheaper though. Benchmade is well made but overpriced in my opinion

Seems a little overkill, but if you like collecting knives, sure… I always go with a cheapo victorinox.

Don’t buy benchmade on Amazon
All my homies at r/knives would say the same thing
Though I admit I’m not sure I’ve seen any clone filet models

Benchmade is a status symbol. Sure they make good knives, but you’re paying for the name.
For what you pay for this, you can get a Rapala fillet knife (that’s probably just as good) for $20, spend $150 on a rod and reel, buy some lures, get a case of beer and still have money left over.

I have never used one but I’m sure it’d be an amazing fillet knife.
The real question is, do you need to spend that much? I fish and hunt, and have a few very expensive knives, they still get dull so I also have a pile of reasonable quality cheapos. High quality knives are great for precision work where the end result is crucial but filleting small fish is pretty straightforward.
I’d go buy 3 cheapish fillet knives and a decent sharpener instead. If you’re cleaning enough fish to dull one then grab the next and sharpen them all before the next catch.

Fisherman and restaurants owner here. I swear by Dexter fillet knives. I think you can find a quality fillet knife for ~1/10 the price of a benchmade.
But if that’s what makes you happy then get it. I’m sure it’s a good filet knife.

Just as good. For a fraction of the price. I use it on the same fish you’re targeting.
