I got this guy a few days ago at Petco. He looked brown (like second photo, but even less color) and I had seen him there for several weeks, and I was worried he’d never find a home because he wasn’t flashy. (So of course I had to.) He colored up within an hour of being in his new tank, and he fluctuates based on lighting, and he’s got a lot of energy. They had him labeled as an Alien male. I tried to get good pictures, but he has a lot of energy and doesn’t like to sit still for the camera.

Looks like an alien betta.
If its Petco, it won’t be any pure wild type. I do get smaragdina vibes, which could be part of the alien hybrid genetics he has. Although its impossible to confirm with aliens.
That’s an alien betta, not wild. You will not find “wild bettas” at pet stores.
What a beautiful fish! Other Bettas are often a bit much for me, with their vibrant colors and long fins. It’s nice to see a different type for once. I like the simpler shape of it’s fins, and the patches of colors it has still grab your attention and make you look at it in awe. I find it absolutely stunning!
