Is my fly line ruined if my leader loop dug into my fly line welded loop like this? If so, how do I prevent this from happening? I got snagged on a bush in the water….

Tough to see, but notching is inevitable.
Avoid putting more than 20 pounds of force if possible. If the loop breaks, snip it and tie a nail knot. Lines not ruined.

First thing I do when I get a new fly line is cut off the welded loop. Fly line is not ruined. Here’s a video explaining the nail knot to leader connection
I really appreciate the feedback from everyone. Thought I was about to have to drop another $100 after a ruined new fly line

Make sure you’re doing the loop to loop connection correctly or it can turn into a cutting hitch. The fly line loop goes through the leader loop first.

You can also make another welded loop if you prefer.
