I got my first Betta 2 weeks ago.
I have been feeding him 6 pellet ball food thingies everyday since I got him. He has an appetite, he swims up to me, he explores the aquarium but occasionally glass surfs. His fins have been healing and regrowing.
however ever since I got him I noticed he has a slight belly. I had trouble fasting him since if I don't feed him he eats whatever my corys eat. I have tried to fast him but I think he ate the Cory food instead.
He swims well (at least I think he does? as I mentioned he's my first Betta)
the planted tank is a cycled with heater and low flow inside filter. the water parameters are fine. the tank is 60l and I have 5 corys

my betta had a slight belly too, and i think that is normal, actually. and after eating he used to go down. maybe yours is sneaking around to get the cory food.
but i think as long as he is swimming actively and not bloated, he is fine.
