I’ve been stuck for weeks deciding on the best pathway to motorize my 9.5ft reel yaks raptor fin drive. I mostly fish San Diego Bay and Mission Bay. Ideally I’d like to pedal and motor to spots to save on battery and get a workout.
Current options being considered (please add any you think of):
Bixpy K1 w/Rudder mount – slick, very lightweight, least amount of rigging needed. Not cheap, no spotlock.
Minn Kota Riptide – spot lock and 55lb thrust, but cumbersome, relatively pretty heavy, will need to figure out a custom mount for install, and overall pretty expensive.
Pacamotor – spot lock, cost effective, relatively slick. Won’t ship for months, underpowered, new tech from unproven company.
