When I bought my truck I was promised 2 keys. I had time to go up there and get it today. 45 minute wait until the key guy gets there turns into 2 1/2 hours. I naturally got lunch and hit bass pro. I decided since I bought a 7’2 heavy rod I’d get a glide bait. I was looking at the bass pro xps glide baits and the employee restocking the shelves said look I’m gonna be honest bro spend more money and get a better bait that’s got better action.
I took his advice and got a bucca 6 inch glide bait and a 3.75 inch baby bull swim bait. These were my first 3 cast in a pond with the 3.75 inch swim bait.
First 2 cast I caught two 4-5 lbers before I could even reel in the slack. (For reference my boot is a men’s size 11) The third cast I called a buddy and was joking about not being able to reel in the swim bait without catching another one and caught a 3rd. Each fish was bigger than the last. I ended up catching 3 4-5 lbers first 3 cast and then 18-20 1-1.5 lbers that night. The last picture is the only thing I caught at the same pond in 4-5 hours the night before which was a 16 inch 2.1 lbs crappie on a bass spinner bait.
(I also never keep the fish but this is the first crappie I’ve ever caught and heard they were really good to eat)
I’ve been forcing myself too take 2 rods out and fish techniques I never fish and not bring back up lures so I can’t get frustrated and switch out. This has been causing me to catch so many more fish. I think these bass have seen 1000’s of senkos but never a 3.75 inch swim bait or a buzz bait with a 4.8 inch keitech swim bait on it.
