I have a rainbow tetra I think they’re called who looks like this drawing, he eats and swims around happy and his tank mates are all bottom feeders so he doesn’t get bullied, I’ve seen a post there now telling someone in a similar situation to put their fish down, do I need to do the same? Is it cruel to keep him alive?

fish tuberculosis. you need to remove him immediately and clove oil euthanize him and treat your tank with UV sterilizer. lower the temperature of your water to the least they can handle, do a water change and make sure your water parameters are pristine.
WASH YOUR HANDS IMMEDIATELY AFTER DESLING WITH ANYTHING IN THAT FISH THANK
ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP AND WARM WATER FOR 20 SECONDS
Probably tuberculosis bud. Real bad news.
It’s is a rainbowfish or a tetra?
Rainbowfish are relatively short lived (1.5 years) and as they get older then can look like this
If it’s a Tetra it may be TB, which is contagious
