So this is my first Betta ever that I just got a week ago from my LFS. I picked this one because he looked really sad and I felt for him.
Can you guys help me identify what kind of betta he is, if there is anything wrong with him and if there is, what should I do about it?

looks like a samurai betta! he is stunning
For sure a samurai. The one thing to look out for is diamond eye, which dragonscales like samurais develop as they age. It’s when the scales grow over their eyes, rendering them fully or partially blind. 🙁
