This is my clown pleco. He’s about 5 years old. He’s been through several iterations of my tank. I’ve not had much luck. Maybe bad tank mate choices. There was aggression leading to deaths, which broke my heart.

I got frustrated to the point that I allowed him to live virtually alone for the last year. There are some nerite snails and a lot of trumpet snails to keep him company.

I was neglecting my cleaning duties because my pothos has been pretty much drinking up all of the nitrates.

I was forced into a cleaning when my snail population exploded.

I suppose most of the tiny baby snails are now in my yard because I haven’t seen nearly as many since I siphoned the gravel.

I was considering some yoyo loaches to keep them at bay but now that I’ve evicted so many, maybe that’s not necessary.

Clown pleco here stopped hiding long ago. I used to go weeks without seeing him. But once I add mates he’ll probably go back into hiding.

What do you think would make good neighbors as I venture back into this hobby?
