My fish tank is still green… I have tried all sorts of things: water changes, adding new plants, adding some Replenish, keeping the lights off, monitoring the nitrates… One of my fishkeeper friends told me it could be oxygen levels, is that a possibility? I am running out of options and it is very discouraging. Any help or advice is appreciated!

Hi there,
That is indeed a green tank.
This is the result of Cyanobacteria, a photosynthesizing bacteria, often, seen from the oversaturation of nutrients, though this isn’t necessary for the bacteria to be prominent.
Does the tank see direct sunlight?
Seachem Replenish is a mineral additive to raise the hardness of water, and can increase the growth of Cyanobacteria.
Low oxygen levels can indeed cause rapid reproduction of Cyanobacteria and microalgae.
I suggest to change 50% water, then blackout the tank for 24h; cover the tank with a towel or thick sheet and keep the light off. Be sure not to feed the tank during this time.
Good luck! Let us know how you get on.
UV light filter
Uv filter cleansing light for 24 hours would kill it all
Run a canister filter with diatomacious earth, 20 minutes later crystal clear. Run it for 12 hours and you’ll be all set.
Do a 20% water change after a week.

UV light for aquariums or a filter with a UV light in it they’re on Amazon
Hornwart, it will out compete the algea
Too much light. Read that you should only have the artificial lights on 8-10 hours a day (during the day) and avoid direct sunlight on the tank.
Use chemi pure and Prime Conditioner give it time to clear
You can change your filter this time after that do not change for another month.
