I got this from my neighbor some years back. It
is a crappie rod by(Med light) design and had an older style push button reel originally. Given it has a short pistol grip and nothing else could i use a baitcaster effectively?
The rod is graphite and is about a 5ft ish in length.

Absolutely, one of my favorite bfs (bait finesse) rods is on a light spinning rod. Pistol grips on baitcasters were the hot thing back in the 80s/90s . They work great for finesse
