After spotting this on my last hike and with good results from the single stem I collected last week, I went back to collect a healthier amount of this parrot’s feather which I found out is only native to South America and isn’t supposed to be here. So lucky me, I get to take as much as I want. Well, not exactly.
Foraging is illegal in most nature sanctuaries so I went today on Good Friday after a morning rain and there were only a couple of people but nobody near the plants so I was able to fill a small drawstring backpack with plants that I picked from a shadier spot as to avoid algae. I also tried my best not to do any wading.
When I got back home I cleaned them up and soaked what I put in the tank in a solution of 3ml %3 hydrogen peroxide in 1 gallon of water for 5 minutes then rinsed them to hopefully kill any remaining algae. After planting what I did in the tank, I realized I collected way too many stems. Not sure if I should try to ___ them off or not. I definitely don’t feel like cleaning the rest of them up myself. For now they’re in a tub of water outside.
Anyways, hope for the best!

So beautiful!what is the green ball on top of each plant in the pond still?
Make sure you throw any extras away in two trash bags so you don’t introduce it into other water ways
That is a pretty invasive plant
