My 8yo hooked into what would be biggest redfish Ive ever seen. My 8yo daughter, on 6.6 Reef kayak, got into a fish using $18 Bass Pro spincast as she is transitioning to 5.5' rod. Amazingly enough she is a lefty using righty reel.
After 5 minutes my wife nearby took the rod and worked the fish. Knowing it was more than usual fish after 15 mins she called me over and I took over.
It took over an hour on 12lb test kiddie rod. I was completely wore out after. But my daughter was so proud. What an incredible moment that we all will remember for life.
