Wanting to raise my rowing seat (primarily a fishing boat). first thought was to add a box under the seat to get more height and add a little bit of storage. Any thoughts on using something like a Rigid tool box for this modification?

Do you like broken plastic and falling outta your boat?
I’d either make one out of plywood (with a few coats of epoxy paint) or try to find a small metal box or case. I’m not sure I’d trust plastic to hold up under a static load unless it was built for that purpose.
Why do you want to raise it?
That sounds like an unstable design and inconvenient to get to your box.
