The CPDs have also been having fry. seen at least 5 swimming around. I don't plan on breeding and raising them unless they somehow survive.

  1. Probably but I’d personally settle for a honey gourami instead, way less risky

I think you’re maxed out for a 10 gallon personally. 20 gallons is really the minimum for a community tank IMO

Without the cpds I’d say yes, but I don’t know how big their bioload is and how well they’d work with a beta.

You can get a betta. Snails and shrimp have low bioload however bettas 9 times out of 10 will eat the shrimp or at least constantly hunt them despite thick coverage for hiding. The cpds are nano fish so they have a small bioload too. With all those plants, getting a long finned betta is fine and gives your shrimps a better chance to run.

  5. Betta is a gamble on personality. I’d advise a honey gourami, they’re much more reliably chill. Or a dwarf gourami if you can find a chill one.

The way you identify how calm/docile a fish is is you wave your finger in front of the glass at the aquarium, point your finger at fish as if it’s a fish challenging them, shine your phone flashlight in the tank (low brightness), and pick the one that doesn’t posture back, turn to look, chase, or behave aggressively toward these stimuli. Pick the calmest one.

    Good luck!
