it’s 10 pound test line and I put it on yesterday this photo was taken after I casted it

No but you should try to go to the park or something and let all your line out and crank it all back in under tension. It looks way too loose on there.

I’d re string it. Definitely try to unspool and respool it. If I went through the work to unspool, I’d just put new line on.

Spool looks loose and some of the line looks frayed

Agree, it looks like it was wound back fully slack – it’s gonna eventually bury itself and break off; braid needs to be wound on with significant tension.

You can connect the other end to a different reel, and reel it in. Then reel it back tightly.

Go to a river put a heavy top water on it and let float down then real it back slowly and tightly with wet line

I just started using a bait caster and I almost thru it in the trash I was having so many issues with braid. Switched to mono and it is so much easier.

Just part of the process. I forced myself to use a bait Caster, woth braid, for an entire season. 12 years later its still my preferred set up.
