We recently got an axolotl and we upgraded her to a new tank which means we got a new filter but it’s making this loud noise and idk what to do. I read that it could be air trapped but we have the tank filled all the way to the top and nothing is clogging it it’s brand new so idk it’s driving me crazy. Any help/ suggestions/ tips would be greatly appreciated ( or any axo advice I’m a newbie lol)

  1. Sand or gravel, or snails, in the uptake pipe. Or, the magnetic propeller in the uptake pipe is bent. Take it apart, clean the pipe and propeller really good.

  2. As someone who sells these, it’s just air! It hasn’t been properly primed yet. Keep pouring water into the back chamber until it stops making this noise. Sometimes it can take up to 2 minutes.

I grab a cup and pour tank water in the filter. You’ll want to turn that dial on top of the intake pipe all the way up/open while you prime it. Adjust flow once you have the filter fully primed. It helps clear those annoying bubbles.
