I just moved to northern Norway and thought it would be the perfect place to start fishing as the waters here are famous for having mad fish. Cod, coalfish, pollock, trout, salmon, halibut … everything should be here.

I've gone shore fishing 5 different days now, tried different well known spots and places recommended by my tackle shop and got absolutely nothing. At least I've stopped losing my lures and figured out my knots now.

I have a 275cm spinning rod (9 feet) 10-40g, used locally popular lures, mostly tobies and spoons. I also tried using a bombarda and fly combo for trout, and I haven't even gotten a bite. The closest I got was seeing a little fishing curious about my lure once, that's it.

I'm still enjoying the process, I know how lucky I am to be here, and I'm sure that i'll have a ton of fun once I figure it out, but right now it feels pretty frustrating (I must be 15 hours dry by now)

So any guess to what am I missing here ..? How important is the timing with tides and dawn/dusk for fish ? Is it better to fish incoming or retreating tide ?

Any tips would be appreciated here, cheers !

I would love to try to fish from shore in Norway. I’m from Sweden my first thought is that you need to get your bait deeper!

  2. You prob want to ask for fishing spots. If you want action quick put on a soft plastic. Let it sink to the bottom. Pull up, stop and as you let the rod down reel in slowly. That way it falls back down to the bottom slowly. You can also experiment a little bit.
