This is my 20 gallon long. I currently have 14 pygmy corydoras, 5 otocinclus, 20+ neocaridina shrimp, and 3 nerite snails.
My LFS told me I should add another small school of fish before I add my female betta, Regina George, to this tank.
I want something that will look nice but also get along nice with everything else.
I have been to every LFS and cant decide. These are what I can get locally at the moment and I have mo experience with any of them:
emerald eye rasboras
harlequin rasboras
chili rasboras
neon tetras
rummynose tetras
ember tetras
black phantom tetras
gold phantom tetras
zebra danios

No tetras or large danios with a betta, but harlequins could work. 🙂 Only reason im not recommending chilis is because the mid-top looks too bright and empty/open and I dont think they’d like that.
Harlequins would work great in here with a betta. They love having room to swim.
Hey what tank size is that?
I know you didn’t mention them for what’s locally available to you ATM, but I wish I had a 20 long for my small school of red neon blue eye rainbow fish. They are very active and could definitely use more room than my standard 10g. They’re about the size of a neon tetra and much less common. If you happen to see any they are a little more interesting with their dominance displays and coloring than a lot of the common nanos.
Good luck!
Celestial pearl danios would be cool if you could find some!
It’s not on your list, so I don’t know if they’re available to you locally, but I just got Pygmy corys for my 13.3g shallow and they are the cutest things I’ve seen in my life.
I would go with the Harlequin Rasboras.
