This will be SoCal Orange County pier / dock fishing. Looking at options around this price range. Thinking of a 7 medium heavy set up.

    I have no idea how the 2 compare but I do own the Lew’s American Hero and it’s a solid no frills combo. I’ve caught plenty of fish on it including a 4 1/2lb bass. It had no issues with the fight.
