I've posted here before (https://www.reddit.com/r/bettafish/s/CV2ML7Ove8) asking for help on two betta fish, but I have some bad news.
The tanks are almost ready, I'm just waiting on the API ammonia test as well as some other more minor stuff like heaters, rocks, some more plants, etc etc. I thought I'd have more time, but I guess I missed the fact that one of the betta fish was sick (it's really hard to monitor their condition as a beginner + they're stuck in such a small space), and one of them passed away.
So I'm panicking a little now. I built these tanks with the purpose of saving these fish, and I'm not sure how much longer the blue fish (last betta) can last.
Should I put in the betta in the tank even without an ammonia test kit? I'm worried that I'll miss an ammonia spike without it since I have plants inside and the fish will die anyway, which is the main reason I haven't put them in the new tank yet.
What should I do? Do I risk it?

A fish in cycle is a thousand times safer and more likely to have them healthy and alive than keeping them in those jars. It’s not even a risk. Just do daily water changes and dont overfeed!
Do a water change and add the fish, be sure to acclimate. Do daily water changes to lesson the potential toxin exposure. The jars are lethal, the tank at least has a chance.
