First photo is from March 9, second is from April 1, third is from yesterday (April 5). On April 1 when I noticed his fins had split I did a 30% water change and added an almond leaf, yesterday I did another 30% water change. LFS checked my parameters (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate), heat is set to 27°C. The only thing he could have injured himself on is driftwood, but I personally don’t think the damage is consistent with that? Maybe I’m wrong. Does this look like fin rot? What would you do at this point? He still seems to be his regular self, eats well, is social and happy to see us.

  1. Check for any sharp edges on the drift wood that could damage the fins. They are very delicate. Next i would think about fin rot but since you say the water levels are good I wouldn’t be concerned with that too much. Maybe the water changes have been affecting the biome more than you think and it’s been stressing him out? What have you been adding to water? And have you been making sure you are measuring doses properly?
