Hey guys, first time going out on a small skiff in Monterey california for rock fish and I picked this up from a garage sale, would it work well with rockfish from the skiff? I okay to throw swim baits on the bottom and i have some cheap metal jigs i got, plus hi low rigs with squid if those don’t work.
Daiwa bg2500 and the rod I don’t know much information about zenaq “Jigger Trust” it’s 4’8” and pretty stiff for how thin it looks. The daiwa reel I think I’ll put some braid on but not sure what type for this outting and if it even fits this rod for the purpose. Thanks for any input!

Zenaqs are really quality expensive rods. That will serve your purposes fine.
I use the same reel but in a 5k size for jigging lings and rockfish in northern CA. Rod has a max lure weight of 2oz. Depending on current and swell conditions you might need to use heavier weight than what the rod is rated for. With that in mind, my buddy used to throw his ugly stick down and pull out rock fish. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to catch some rockfish with this setup, however don’t get upset if you get demolished after hooking into a big ling and he rips you off in the rocks
