I have a small indoor houseplant shop that I’ve moved my 125g aquarium into. I didn’t take a direct pic, so sorry for the cropped crappy quality. Anyway, I’ve already bought black sand and am going to put a black panel on the back. I’d like to set it up again as a planted community tank. I used to have it fully planted with cories, gouramis, tetras, and a breeding pair of asshole angelfish.
I have glass lids, LED lights, and run two Aquaclear 110 hob filters. Need to order a submersible heater since my old one wound up in a goldfish pond through winter. Planning on mounting a type of pothos across the lattice and letting some run down into the tank.
I’d like to have lots of movement in the tank again. People really liked that. I do need to consider that these fish may be around more noise, movement, and floor vibrations.
I really like tetras, gouramis, and cories, but I’m open to others.
Throw your suggestions at me please. I will say, I would prefer to not have to deal with livebearers where I’m giving away guppies and mollies with every plant purchase lol.

This is her former glory at my home
Snails
Shrimp
Pygmy cory
Chili rasboras
You could have schools of 50 of each fish in a tank that size. The rasboras would look so cool in a large school!
I would do a group of angel fish and 2 or 3 schools of tetras or other schooling/shoaling species such as glowlight danios aswell as a cleanup crew like otocinclus and maybe some corydoras
Divide it into 25/75 and Dutch style with optional plants you can buy sitting on one side. Fish and houseplant people are often cross shopping plants. Or just a back to its former glory with some big fish in it!
You are positively living my retirement dream here.
Tetras. Lots of 3 or 4 species. Neons or cardinals. Black skirts. Or penguins. Maybe Congo.
Alternatively maybe a barb or two like cherry. Again. Large school.
A good school of Cory cats. And few Bristlenose plecos.
Finally a nice red tailed black shark.
are you looking for multiple small fish or a few big fish? i will always vouch for goldfish, they are super cute and have crazy personality
Angelfish or discus will help give it that WOW factor for your customers.
Jack Dempseys are surprisingly beautiful, relatively large fish, and can be kept with other large cichlids (oscars for example) or plecos. Also good for a WOW factor. Edit: be careful not to get males and females of the same type of cichlid as they will breed.
Guppies tend to use the all of the space available and will look amazing with their flowing tails.
Really it depends on what you like, since you’ll be looking after them
I’d recommend at least 2 smaller heaters, that way if one fails, the other will continue working and your fish won’t just freeze.
RAINBOW FISH! Bosemani are nice, yellows are amazing and millenniums are like living velvet. They’re all super colorful and active. You can put a decent anoint in a 125G. And they’re peaceful community fish. Throw in some corydoras or panda garra and some cool dither-fish like rummynose or silver tip tetras and your tank is complete.
Earth eaters are always active and an unusual fish for customers to watch. They’re easy to keep with plants if you hide the roots with rocks or driftwood.
If you want to do a Dutch style tank, rainbows are a winner. There’s so much color and activity. You could do a huge cluster of the same type, like 20 dwarf neons, or a mix and match of all large or all small species.
Danios! Cheap, sturdy and active! I love the contrast of my long fin blue danio and glo danio in a planted tank, and they always get the attention of my kids and any guests
White Cloud Mountain Minnows are super fun and you could have a ton. Maybe peppered Corys too and a paradise fish or another few medium sized fish that can thrive in the same environment.

I’ve got a 125G with 8 Denison barbs, 7 boesemani rainbow fish, and 10 panda garra. Also a couple of otocinclus, although I’d like to get more.
They’re active in a planted high flow setup and look great at a distance too. Considering your location, growing plants out of the top of the aquarium would be very thematic.
Check out any kind of rainbowfish, specifically the ones in the genus of melanotaenia. They’re extremely active, very peaceful and prolific breeders.
They’re egg scatterers so they’ll eat the eggs, so will bottom feeders like corys so you don’t have to worry about overpopulation, and their breeding behavior is so much fun to watch.
So cool, where is your plant store located?
Odessa barb
Giant danios
A few Acaras
not at all an ideal pick BUT,
my LFS has a similar set up and they have a tank of angelfish, some gouramis a bichir.., it’s the highlight of my laps around the pet store, i love that strange dinosaur.
Dwarf Mexican Crayfish? Or any crayfish really, 125g is big.
They’re predatory but depending on your stocking, it’ll leave the others alone. Do your research as always
Congo tetras, pearl gourami, bosmani rainbows.
Whatever you decide on get some k loaches they are absolute goobers and so fun to watch
Lots of goldfish and one spongebob pineapple of course
Rainbow fish of course and many breeds of them
