I bought a bunch of supplies and the tank is cycling currently (has been since yesterday, yesterday is when I got him) but I really wanna switch it to its new tank , I’ve never owned any fish before but I’ve been trying to research a lot and I just need help. Its old tank is too cold and I’m pretty sure the last owner didn’t clean it or replace the water in at least a month so I’ve already done that. I’m also no expert (obviously) but whenever he stays still he starts floating

If the old tank is too cold just add a heater for now. Use the one from the new tank if you need to, if you don’t already have one your gonna probably need once since bettas are tropical fish and reqire warmer water. I wouldn’t add the fish into the new tank until it is fully cycled. You can do partial water changes on the old tank water to help clean it up just don’t do too much and shock the fish.
Look at the wiki in this sub, lots of info

Personally, I think you’re best off doing a fish-in cycle in the new tank rather than keeping him in the old tank that’s obviously unsuitable. There’s also info on the wiki for doing a fish-in cycle. You’ll need an API test kit to test the water frequently and you’ll need to do water changes when parameters are unsafe (always using water conditioner when you do water changes)
